Silly evil hacker guy.
I found this article on the MIT Technology Review:
http://www.technologyreview.com/read_article.aspx?ch=specialsections&sc=emergingtech&id=16474
I hope no one talked about it yet. I won't feel as special if they have. I think one requisite for blogging is to feel unique in what you say. So, after somewhat scanning the blogs we have posted, realizing no one to my knowlege has talked about this, and after scanning the world wide web for someone's invention which will change the world's IT community just like the "it," or "Segwey Transporter," was supposed to revolutionize the transportation community, (lots of hype, then toned down to just a subtle murmer), I have come to- more than anything else -a feeling of jealousy. I wish I would have invented it myself, no matter how sublte or revolutionary the change on "the community" it may have been or will be.
Anyways, the article. It's not really that exciting. But basically some guy at Brown is working on an authentification system which will simplify and strengthen online privacy at the same time. This comes at a time when we users, to feel somewhat safe on the internet, must have multiple passcodes, identities (Halley Barry) (How do you spell her name by the way? ...hmm.), and firewalls. This guy at Brown thinks he can simplify it into one sign-in which will then allow users to jump from one secure page to the next.
Here's a quote. In the quote is the name of the system I didn't invent; that Brown smart man did, "Shibboleth acts not only as an authentication system but also -- counterintuitively -- as a guardian of privacy." So there you have it. The world is safe. No more online identity theft. No more sleepless nights. We can trust large businesses now. And small business now. No more "opting out" or "opting in" to participate in the sharing or raping of our information. Everything's fixed.
Who knows, maybe it will be. Shibbolethslkdwoierjsdfkjlj or whatever it's called is going to have to be quite impressive for me to use it. Especially if everyone else uses it. Including the evil hacker people.
Silly evil hacker people. I hope Brown smart guy isn't a silly evil hacker person.
